Phoenix Suns forward Josh Okogie left the game against the Golden State Warriors with a right hip injury. It was the second consecutive game he left with the injury.

Phoenix Suns forward Josh Okogie has suffered a right hip injury and will not return to the game against the Golden State Warriors, the team announced on Thursday.

Okogie, who started for the second straight game in place of injured guard Grayson Allen, was averaging 6.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 21.8 minutes per game this season.

The 25-year-old Nigerian forward was off to a hot start against the Warriors, hitting three 3-pointers and having 10 points, two rebounds and two assists at halftime. However, he was unable to continue playing in the second half due to the injury.

It is unclear when Okogie suffered the injury, but it is the second straight game that he has been forced to leave due to a physical ailment. On Tuesday, he left the game against the Los Angeles Lakers with a left ankle injury.

The Suns have been hit hard by injuries this season, with a number of key players missing time. Devin Booker has been out with a foot injury, while Bradley Beal has only played in four games due to a back injury.

Kevin Durant has been healthy this season, but he suffered a sprained left ankle against the LA Lakers in the semifinals of the 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament.

If the Suns want to contend for a championship, they will need to get healthy quickly. The team currently sits at 13-9, which is good for fourth in the Western Conference.

Josh Okogie's Career

Okogie was drafted with the 20th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He spent four seasons with the team before signing with the Phoenix Suns in the summer of 2022.

The 25-year-old Georgia Tech product signed a one-year deal with the Suns before agreeing to a two-year, $5.8 million extension. He has been a valuable member of the Suns roster, providing offense and defense.

Okogie has a player option for next season, which means he could become a free agent once again. He will need to show that he can stay healthy and contribute to the Suns in order to earn a long-term deal.
